You may regularly hear it around you, fuel prices that keep rising. Especially for people who travel a lot of kilometers with their (rental) car, this can be a significant drain on the budget. Did you know, for example, that the location where you refuel often determines the pump price? By making smart choices, you can save about 10 to 20 cents per liter. • Refueling at gas stations along motorways and highways is often more expensive than at other gas stations in the Netherlands.

• When gas stations give discounts, the discount is often highest on Saturdays. On Mondays there is almost no discount anywhere. It is also often the case that filling up in the morning, is more expensive than in the afternoon or evening.

• Fuel prices at manned gas stations are usually more expensive than at unmanned stations.

• You can use certain fuel cards that allow you to fill up cheaper at many gas stations. Think for example of ANWB, UnitedConsumers and MKB-Brandstofpas. In most cases, though, these fuel cards are exclusively for business drivers.
